Edith Njuguna, Director of Programs and Policy Implementation, has extensive experience designing and implementing programs to improve education outcomes for youth in Chicago and internationally. She focuses on creating a stronger alignment between state policy and regional practices to improve education outcomes for all students. She manages resource development and deployment to help communities strengthen their collaboration across sectors to deepen their impact and leads EdSystems’ Career Pathways work in Tanzania.
Prior to joining NIU, Edith was a Senior Program Officer at Grand Victoria Foundation where she stewarded investments of up to $4 million a year in grants related to policy and practice in education, workforce development, and natural resources conservation. She provided technical assistance to grantees on various topics including capacity building, collaboration, and strategies to better connect state and local efforts.
Edith holds a Master’s degree in Public Service Management from DePaul University, a certificate in Spanish from Universidad Complutense in Madrid and a BA from the University of Nairobi. She is a native of Kenya and speaks four languages.
